After the success of our initial social networking extension, allArticleAnnounce, Joomtraders has had several requests to construct a similar extension for the popular, but relatively new, social network called Plurk (http://www.plurk.com).
But what is Plurk? Well according to the creators of Plurk, it is "areally snazzy site that allows you to showcase the events that make up your life, and follow the events of the people that matter to you, in deliciously digestible short messages called plurks".
Plurk is unique in having a timeline which showcases all of the plurks made from yourself and other plurkers in your friend group. This makes for an easy to use website, meaning more time can be spent socialising. Plurk is also unique in allowing users to chose a prequalifier for each of their plurks, making it easy to visually search through the timeline to extract information you require.
By cross linking an article to a social network as flourishing as Plurk, webmasters can expect to improve their search engine optimisation and their own following. In allArticlePlurk version 1.1.0, users are given the choice of using either the first 80 characters of their article or the Metadata description of an article to update to Plurk, along with the page’s title and respective SEF URL! allArticlePlurk also allows for users to specify exactly what categories they wish to have updates sourced from. This stops the risk of articles, such as a 404 error or a privacy policy, becoming unexpectedly front page news.
